Exquisite Spa Weddings & Second Honeymoons
Brides & Grooms head to Taos, New Mexico for intimate ceremonies.
In the heart of Taos, the lushness of El Monte Sagrado, in Taos, New Mexico, presents a dream destination for couples wishing to make their wedding day truly special
Taos, New Mexico (Winter/Spring 2008) - Taos is a mesmerizing blend of something old, something new, and something blue. Couples head to Northern New Mexico for weddings, second honeymoons, and quick weekend get-a-ways. They’re indulging themselves, friends and family with intimate indoor, outdoor, and luxurious ceremonies.
The area has become a popular wedding destination because of its majestic scenery, friendly people, unique resorts, and amazing mountains which serve as a majestic backdrop for simple and elegant weddings alike.
Top Spa Resort:
From champagne toasts beneath fluttering aspen trees to mouthwatering original menus, El Monte Sagrado Hotel/Spa is the place for Taos weddings with a magical touch, offering an elegant and picturesque setting for your special day. Whether an intimate ceremony or a lavish fun-filled and elaborate gathering of family and friends, El Monte Sagrado is designed to make a couple's day memorable.
Imagine a wedding, commitment ceremony or reception surrounded by views of mountains, waterfalls, ponds and towering 80-year-old cottonwoods. A candlelight dinner in the Grand Bohemian Gallery overlooking the Sacred Circle is equally unique, while a number of intimate venues can be transformed to fit your vision. For larger weddings of up to 200 guests, we present our elegant new Rio Grande Ballroom.
El Monte Sagrado’s expert wedding specialists ensure that a couple’s every wish is realized. The resort has a dazzling list of possibilities. In Taos, before or after the ceremony, plan a day whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande River, a day of pampering at the Living SpaTM, a golf outing, hot-air balloon adventure or an art gallery or Pueblo tour.
Other Resorts and Chapels:
There are some wedding 'chapels' that cater almost exclusively to weddings/events including the Adobe & Pines Inn in Ranchos de Taos.
This Inn has two private casitas with oversized Jacuzzi tubs/fireplaces that are luxurious, private, and competitively priced for the fantastic atmosphere/services/accommodations you get. Simultaneous 'couples massages' with two therapists can be easily arranged in room, along with champagne/flowers/special gifts upon check in. Ann Gonzales, the Manager, can arrange it all beautifully.
Private luxury casitas are Puerta Roja and Puerta Cobre. Another great historic honeymoon suite is Puerta Rosa -- wood burning fireplace, oversized Roman soaking tub in middle of huge bath that also has second fireplace.
Many of these resorts have wedding planners on hand to help with preparations, and local lodgings means you can do everything, including the reception, all with soaring mountains cradled around you.

Taos -- Living Life at a Higher Level:
Taos is a visitor’s playground and one of the world’s most unique destinations. Long inhabited by one of America’s oldest native peoples, Taos was settled in 1615 by the Spanish. Today’s Taos is a mesmerizing blend of old and new. You can visit an ancient Indian Pueblo, ski down groomed slopes, and indulge in magnificent shopping, all in one day. Raft through the Rio Grande Gorge or take the scenic Enchanted Circle drive between the towns of Taos and Angel Fire. Taos is a vibrant art colony as well as a mecca for outdoor sports and spiritual discovery. With 300 days a year on average of sunshine, the possibilities are unlimited.
Taos is home to one of the oldest art colonies in the United States. One visit and you will see why the incredible light and scenery of the region have lured artists such as Ernest Blumenschein, Bert G. Phillips, and RC Gorman. Georgia O’Keefe’s breathtaking paintings were inspired by these magnificent surroundings, as well as the photography of Ansel Adams and Paul Strand. It comes as no surprise that Taos has more than 80 galleries, largely showcasing the works of talented local artists. Taos also features an impressive array of art and history museums, including:
Taos Art Museum at the Fechin Inn
Harwood Museum of Art
Blumenschein Home and Museum
Fechin Institute
La Hacienda de Don Antonio Severino Martinez
Kit Carson Home and Museum
Millicent Rogers Museum
